So true. On the few memorable times when I took the calm path, ended up with great results. understanding from the other person, an immediate fix of some mistake, etc... Had a moment a few weeks ago where I wish I had controlled the rage dealing with someone. not so successful... but awareness is the first step. thanks for the reminder!

Interesting point. I agree, being +/- a feature or two has zero relevance for the mainstream consumer, it's all about the experience. And that's exactly where Apple excels.

I think your statement '... a better experience' captures it for me. Just like the iPod revolutionized the music world by providing a great ecosystem vs all the other music players, which ever phone company can do that will win in the long run... Right now apple has the lead.

I know what you mean. I don't have an iphone (yet), but have played with my friends. Right now I have the Samsung Instinct...the apps for it suck. There are like two good ones. Overall, nice phone. But I think next time all go with apple.

interesting work, and not to criticize, but the plot can be presented in much more informative ways. This plot is a bit confusing -- the countries are not linked in any way, so it doesn't make much sense to have the plot lines connecting each country.

A more interesting plot would be a scatter plot of any two of the variables, for example per capita expenditure versus life expectancy, and have each country be represented by it's name on the plot, with size of the name (or a dot) proportional to the country population.

Good article... You're right that everything seems to be converging towards one identifier...

On the other hand I sense a 'standards' issue brewing. With so much at stake and the big players involved I don't see how the convergence will ultimately happen without government intervention.

Yes, very true. I bet the medical insurance companies give discounts based on these programs, and so there's probably a monetary incentive to have 'em. Thing is, it's more than just programs, it's a lifestyle...

Thanks for doing the leg work. I'm looking into signing up for a Sprint/Palm Pre family plan, which would tie up at least myself and two other family members. Just the thought of it makes me sweat.
